The Pool Place, Inc. was founded on the northeast side of Grand Rapids in 1973 and has been a full service Doughboy Elite pool dealer from the very beginning. In 1989, a second store was opened on 36th street in Wyoming MI to better serve the needs of the west Michigan area.
In 2001, Duane and Sherrie (Carter) Miedema purchased The Pool Place, Inc., each bringing over 25 years of experience in the pool sales and service industry, as well as a firm commitment to honest business practices and community responsibility. Their friendly, customer-first approach has established The Pool Place as a consistent leader in overall customer satisfaction. In 2003, The Pool Place expanded its inventory by offering quality-built, affordable Maax spas (formerly Coleman) and is now the only authorized Maax sales and service center in the Grand Rapids area.
As a strong supporter of the local economy, The Pool Place offers a wide range of pool and spa chemicals manufactured by the Grand Rapids based Haviland Consumer Products, as well as custom hot tub covers handmade by Covers Plus Inc., a small company on the city's west side. The Pool Place continues to reinvest in the community through generous support of numerous charitable organizations like the Make-A Wish Foundation and Mel Trotter Ministries, and sponsorship of local events like the annual 5/3rd Riverbank Run.
